What to expect from being a wedding photographer:

This is a set of skills you will develop over time but, need to be prepared for:

  1. Being confident (and even faking it if you have to) – why? Because, if you’re confident, then your clients will be “confident” in investing in you. And if you have to fake that you feel 100% worthy, then eventually you will believe you are. Which you are by the way.

  2. Ability to think and act on the fly: sometimes you will have to literally reschedule engagements or find replacement locations based on weather. Always have a list of back up locations and learn to be able to change plans quickly because, baby, that’s wedding photography!

  3. Remember WHY you are doing this. Because when you wake up in the morning this is what you think about. You imagine your life doing something you love and creating legacies for generations to come. You are an entrepreneur. Don’t forget the passion that got you here in the first place. Never forget it. Put post-it notes on your mirror if you have to. To remind you of your dream. Hard ships will come. Stress will come, headaches WILL come. But, if you can outlast the small problems along the way. The path will be clearer and clearer and you WILL reach your destination

  4. If you wake up in the morning, and you can‘t think anything but singing, then you’resinger, girl.” -Whoopi Goldberg – Sister Act II

You got this. Make sure you’re well prepared and it’s normal to be anxious or nervous. I still get nervously excited for every couple I shoot.
